Morewood’s run by two people, Patrick Morewood, who builds, and lends his namesake, to the bikes and Richard Carter, who bankrolls the whole schebang and figures out how to buy more things that go fast.

Patrick Morewood

Patrick started racing when he was still a kid, cutting his teeth on the local BMX circuit before its first death, sometime in the eighties.

Already addicted to going fast on things with two wheels, it was just a matter of time before he was racing DH. With three South African DH championship titles under his belt, Patrick started looking around for something more.

Armed with engineering principles, the laws of physics and his vast racing experience Patrick built his first bike, the Prime8”, in 1999 and has been going strong ever since, with four new rides for the 2003/2004 season.

Richard Carter

Richard Carter, bless his soul, is the man responsible for funding Morewood. Without him, you probably wouldn’t be reading this right now, and the history page on this site would’ve been a lot shorter.

As we’ve mentioned previously, Richard likes things that go fast, and this is probably a large part of the reason why he likes Morewood bikes so much.
